日本のお正月伝統行儀について、米沢代表が絵を見せながら説明しました。
Q) おせち料理とは何ですか？ Ans) お正月用の特別な料理です。 昔はお店が１週間休みだったので家族、親戚が集まってお正月に食べる料理を作りました。 一つ一つの料理に意味があります。 保存食です。 Koala) ああ、それで味が濃かったのですね。
Q) 門松・松飾りとは何ですか？ Ans) 松は「待つ」を意味し、「天より松、竹に神様が降りてきて、我が家に福をもたらす」と言われています。 日本の伝統的な飾り物です。 神社には笹竹の長いものが飾ってあります。
Q) かがみもちとは何ですか？ Ans) かがみ餅は鏡の形で丸い餅です。 自宅の神仏ににお供えします。
Q) 羽子板とは何ですか？ Ans) 昔は子供のお正月の遊びでした。 ラケットの代わりに「羽子板」を使ってあそびました。 現在は飾り物になっていますね。 Koala) 家でもお正月に羽子板を買いましたよ。
その他、獅子舞、お年玉、招き猫、七福神についてもお話ししました。
１月１日の歌がありますので聞いてください。 ♫年の始めのためしとて・・・♫ Koala) 日本語の歌詞が難しいですね。 何時作られたのですか？

副代表の藤原錦芳さんの料理はプロ並みの腕前で、今回も中華料理を６種類作ってくれました。 総量５１kgになり、自転車２台で料理を引き取りに行きました。 レストランより豪華で美味しく、コアラ会員は待っています。 いつもお世話になっている方々もご招待しましたので、コアラ会員３４名とゲストさんで５０名の新年会の食事になりました。 材料費などどこからもお金は出ていません。 藤原さんのコアラを愛する気持ちだそうです。 有難いです。 謝謝！

Yonezawa leader explained to members showing picture about Japanese New Year's traditional events.
Q) What is the OSECHI ryouri? Ans) It is special meals for the New Year. Families and relatives got together and used to cook for new year's dishes since all stores were closed in the beginning of January in the past. Each dish has meaning. It is preserved food. Koala) Oh, that's because these tastes are deep.
Q) What is a KADOMATU? Ans) We pronounce "pine tree " in Japanese "Matsu" means wait.
It is said that The God comes down from the heaven to the pine tree and the bamboo tree and give us happiness. Long, long bamboo trees are decorated at the shrines.
Q) What is Kagami Mochi? Ans) It is round rice cake that is shape of mirror(Kagami). We dedicate them on a household Shinto altar and a household Buddhist altar.
Q) What is HAGOITA? Ans) During the New Year holidays, children used to play "Hanetsuki", an outdoor game of shuttlecock, somewhat similar to badminton. Instead of rackets, we used "Hagoita", battledores artistically ornamented with pictures of Kabuki actors or popular stars. Nowadays, it becomes a gorgeous decoration.
Koala) My family bought Hagoita for New year.

Birthday party for January;
Koma Erica; 3 years old, Sato Rina; one year old. Both of them are girls. Happy Birthday two of you! We sang a song ♫Happy Birthday to you.♫ together for them.
A vice president Fujiwara Kinpo san gave Chinese food in with about the same ability as pro. She cooked 6 kinds of Chinese food this time. Those weights were 51kg so that we used two bicycles to bring them to the Koala place. Koala members were waiting those dishes because of more delicious than a restaurant served. We invited guests too, 50 people got together at the Koala room and had a party. Nobody paid the cost of ingredients. It is Fujiwara san's inclinations to love Koala people. We really appreciate her.
