コアラ創立者、米澤悦子は国際ソロプチミスト日本財団より「社会ボランティア賞」を頂きました。 国際ソロプチミストとは専門職、管理職についている女性の世界的奉仕団体です。 人権と女性の地位を向上する活動をしています。 私はこの賞を頂けたことを光栄に思っています。
６月末、ソロプチミスト東京―東の会員の女性からお話がありました。 私は「私のボランティア活動・外国人女性支援２３年」の作文を提出しました。 ８月には「貴女の作文がソロプチミスト選考委員会で入選、外部選考委員会でも入選し、高い評価を受けました。 おめでとうございます。」と電話がありました。 私は今までだれでも出来る事を自然体でやってきたつもりでしたのでまさか自分の活動が賞に値するとは思っていませんでした。
１１月に神戸国際展示場で授賞式が行われました。 前日、私は神戸に行きポートピアホテルに泊まりました。
当日は朝からリハーサルをして昼食は神戸牛の贅沢な食事でした。 女性研究者賞 １名、ドリーム賞 １名、社会貢献賞 ５名、千 嘉代子賞 １名、社会ボランティア賞 ６０名、学生ボランティア賞 １５名、活動資金援助 ２０団体が日本全国のソロプチミストクラブから推薦され入賞しました。 それぞれが表彰と副賞として現金も頂きました。 社会ボランティア賞では外国関係のボランティアで受賞したのは９団体で、個人は私を含めて４名でした。 私は東京から推薦されました。 川崎のソロプチミストからは声がかかりませんでした。 残念です。 神奈川県から小田原の「すずの会」が入賞しました。
受賞者が８３名に対して全国のソロプチミストの方の参加が約３０００人でした。 各リジョンの参加人数を読み上げられました。 凄い人数の女性達で会場は華やかでした。
式典ではソロプチミスト理事長、神戸市長、兵庫知事の挨拶、安倍総理からの電報が読み上げられました。 全員起立して国歌を歌いました。 何十年ぶりに「君が代」をまともに歌ったかな～。
贈呈式では外部選考委員長の講評からはじまり、選ばれた理由が伝えられました。
＊ 女性研究者賞の岩井さんはＩＰＳ細胞関係の研究の為の助成金を貰い２年後、宮崎で行われる贈呈式で成果を発表する事になっています。
＊ ドリーム賞の浦田さんはパラリンピックのゴールドメダリスト。
＊ 社会貢献賞の方たちはご自分の持てる技術・才能を生かし、海外で奉仕活動をされています。 「皆さん、すごいな～！！」と感心しました。
＊ 千 嘉代子賞は世界的に有名なバイオリニスト五嶋みどりさん。
＊ 社会ボランティア賞は他人の為に頑張っている人が選ばれています。 最高齢者９０歳の女性は得意のバイオリン演奏で老人ホームや児童館など慰問していました。
＊ 学生ボランティア賞は中学・高校・大学生のボランティア団体が選ばれました。
大きなスクリーンに受賞者紹介の映像が映されました。 壇上で一人づつ表彰されました。
地元神戸のテレビ局も撮影していました。 新聞にも載ったようですが川崎には何にも伝わりませんでした。
帰りは新神戸発７：３０ｐｍの新幹線に乗り深夜に帰宅しました。
２週間後、ソロプチミストクラブ東京―東の定例会に参加する為にホテルニューオータニまで行きました。 ４５名の会員の皆様の前で「私のボランティア活動・外国人女性支援２３年」をプロジェクターを使って３０分話しました。
１２月にはソロプチミスト主催、ホテルニューオータニでのクリスマスパーティーに招待されました。
東儀 秀樹（雅楽師）＆古澤 厳（バイオリニスト）のコラボ演奏は素晴らしかった。 司会は小倉智昭さんでした。
日本にも富める人達の集まりと貧しい人達の集まりとあるのだな～と思いました。
社会ボランティア賞を受賞したご縁で能楽の鈴木様より献金をいただき、３年ぶりに外国人の着付け教室を行えることになりました。 今、場所の予約に苦労しています。
Koala founder, Mrs. Etsuko Yonezawa was awarded "Social Volunteer" prize from International SOROPTIMIST Japan Foundation. International Soroptimist is the wold wide social service group which women professions and managerial posts belong to. They aim for the human right and women's empowerment. I am honored to receive this award.
A member of Soroptimist Tokyo offered me to write about "My Volunteerism-Supporting Foreign Women for 23 years" in June. She telephoned me, "Your paper selected among Soroptimist screening committee and passed again outside screening committee. Your paper was set a high valuation. Congratulations!" in August. I've done volunteer activities for a long time of my own accord that is anyone can do. Little did I dream that my activities would deserve the award.
The awarding ceremony was held at Kobe International Exhibition Hall in November. I went to Kobe city the day before and stayed at the Hotel Portopia.
We had a ceremony rehearsal in the morning and had gorgeous Kobe beef lunch.
Woman Researcher Prize 1, Dream Prize 1, Social Contribution Prize 5, Sen Kiyoko Prize 1, Social Volunteer Prize 60, Student's volunteer Prize 15 and group subsidies 20 were recommended by Soroptimist in all parts of the country and got a prize. Each of us received testimonial and won the supplementary prize of some money.
As for Social Volunteer Prize, 9 groups were related to foreigner and only 4 including me were the winner of individual.
I was recommended by Tokyo. Soroptimist Kawasaki couldn't find me, regrettably. The group "Suzunokai! from Odawara city Kanagawa also won.
Soroptimist 3000 from the whole country assembled at the hall against 83 winners. MC called up the number of participants from each regions. There was a cheerful atmosphere by so many women. The Governor of Soroptimist, A Mayor of Kobe city and a governor of Hyogo Prefecture made an address to the assembly and read out the telegram from a Prime Minister Abe.
We stood up and sung our national anthem. How many years have passed since I sung "Kimigayo" seriously. At the presentation ceremony, the head of the outside screening committee commented about the reason you won.
* A Woman Researcher Prize; Iwai san got a subsidy for her study about IPS cell and would announce her outcomes at Miyazaki Pref. two years later.
* Dream Prize; Urata san is a gold medalist at the Paralympics.
* Social Contribution Prize; Five gentlemen are voluntary workers at the foreign countries with their talents and techniques. I admired "They are awesome!"
* Sen Kiyoko Prize; Ms. Midori Goto Violinist is well-known all over the world.
* Social Volunteer Prizes were selected the people to do good to other people. The oldest winner 90 years old woman used to visit the elderly home and the child care center to console by her violin.
* Student volunteer prize; The volunteer activities from Junior, Senior High School and University were selected.
The winner's introduction film projected on the big screen. We were recognized one by one on the stage. Kobe TV station shot a picture. We appeared the news paper but nothing happened in Kawasaki city.
I took the super express Nozomi 7:30pm from Shin Kobe to Tokyo and got home at midnight.
Two weeks later, I went to the Hotel New Otani to attend the Soroptimist Tokyo meeting. I gave a presentation on my volunteerism - Supporting Foreign Women for 23 years for 30 minutes to 45 membership.
I was invited to the Hotel New Otani, Christmas Party by Soroptimist in Dec. It was fantastic collaborative performance with Togi Hideki (Gagaku player) & Furusawa Isao (Violinist). MC was Ogura Tomoaki.
The wealthy people gathering and the poor people gathering exist in Japan too, I thought.
I got contribution from NOH player Ms. Suzuki link with my Social Volunteer prize. I could have "Foreigner Kimono dress on" event. Now, I am looking for the place.
